U.S. and U.K. Launch Joint Task Force to Align Crypto and Capital Markets
The U.S. and U.K. have formed a Transatlantic Taskforce to enhance collaboration on capital markets and digital assets. Announced by U.K. Chancellor Rachel Reeves and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the initiative brings together regulators from both nations to develop oversight frameworks for digital assets and explore opportunities in wholesale digital markets.
The task force will deliver recommendations within 180 days, with input from private industry. Reeves emphasized the importance of aligning London and New York as global financial hubs, while Bessent highlighted the need for cross-border innovation in financial markets.
Digital assets are a focal point, with officials examining both short-term measures—such as facilitating cross-border use cases amid evolving legislation—and long-term strategies for advancing digital market infrastructure.
